The war for Portents has begun.

The mayor is dead, his cause of death: a Greystone. Soriya flees into the shadows of the night, accused of a heinous murder. She is alone; those who trusted her, including Greg Loren, now stand against her. But even Detective Loren doesn’t see what this truly is: a distraction.

From the shadows rises a new threat, one that has lain in wait from the beginning. She ushers in the return of the Heads of Cerberus—and with it, the promise of Portents’ last sunrise. Meanwhile, Loren inches closer to finding the truth about Beth’s murder. But can his shattered heart face the truth of his late wife’s killer—or about the secrets she harbored from him in the months before her death?

The climactic finale of the Greystone Saga’s first massive storyline will leave readers breathless and stunned, desolately questioning the motives of once-trusted characters.

A Circle of Shadows – Pre-Order the Final Chapter Now!

August 27, 2018 By Lou

We’re only two weeks away from the release of the final chapter of the Greystone series! Everything has built to this moment. From the opening of Signs of Portents when Beth fell there has been a larger story tucked in the background of each installment.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to build this story, brick by brick, and I can’t wait for you to see what happens to your favorite characters.

You can pre-order your copy now on Amazon.

Looking for a paperback?

You are in luck. The paperback is available NOW! Order your copy today!

Final chapter? I thought there was more coming?

There is. I promise you that. I know exactly what the second half of the series will be when I finally sit down to write it. More myths and some incredible discoveries, all centered on the purpose of the stone and what role in plays for the future of Portents and the world.

There are hints in Pathways in the Dark as to what I’m talking about, so be sure to check it out.

But for now, this will be the final chapter. It closes out a big chunk of Loren’s story and puts the characters in a nice place to walk away for a bit. My hope is to get back to this world as soon as possible. I’m fighting the urge right now, in fact, I love working in Portents so much. For now, however, I hope to build some new worlds and look forward to sharing new mysteries with you.

A Circle of Shadows Sneak Peek

June 7, 2018 By Lou

There is more to be unveiled come Tuesday with the release of The Greystone Saga Volume Two, however, I couldn’t resist sharing some tidbits about the climactic finale of the first arc of the series!!!

A Circle of Shadows

The culmination of two years of work.

The series has been building to this moment since Signs of Portents was published back in August 2016. Every short story, every installment, has fleshed out the drama contained within these pages. Everything was set for a purpose and that purpose is about to be revealed.

Everything changes with this one and you don’t want to miss what’s coming.

A Circle of Shadows arrives on September 11, 2018!!!

The Greystone Saga Volume Two

The box set arrives next week and contains your exclusive sneak peek at the finale. Six chapters from A Circle of Shadows to pull you in and tease at the revelations to come.

Pre-order your copy today!

I love the way it came together and can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the series as a whole once it arrives in September.

Thanks for reading.

Sticking the Landing – A Circle of Shadows Update

April 16, 2018 By Lou

It’s crazy to think that in five months the final book of the Greystone saga arrives. When I started planning the arc out back in 2016 this point seemed so far away, so out of reach.

I spent last week revisiting A Circle of Shadows and I have to say… I really enjoyed it.

I know what you’re thinking. Big deal, the writer likes his own book. Well, if you know me at all then you know I dislike pretty much everything I write. I can see the weakness, the flaw in it. The parts readers will jump on, harp on, and ridicule – though all exist for a specific story purpose. It isn’t a negative outlook, though it might appear that way – it is merely wanting to make the book as strong as possible.

With this book? Not so much on the negativity front.

That scares me. But it also excites me. There are so many pieces in A Circle of Shadows, so many touchstones to the series as a whole, that it seemed planned from the very start. (pssst, it wasn’t…)

Did I stick the landing?

That will be up to you. And yes, some will be greatly upset by the ending of this next novel. The stakes are higher but so are the final costs. No one feels each loss as much as I do, I promise you that. The world of Greystone, the city of Portents, is part of my daily life now and to not hear some of the voices from the past few years is sad, however, it opens the door to the adventures to come.

For my own impressions, I think A Circle of Shadows does an excellent job closing out the narrative started with Signs of Portents. The callbacks to every other Greystone novel are there. Character moments grew organically. Every single player gets their moment in the spotlight, all making their own choice and changing from the repercussions.

If you’ve followed the story so far I think you’ll dig where it ends. I have never been one to write on an epic scale. There have been little moments of it like the climax of Signs of Portents but never has the action been so prevalent as it is in this last chapter.

For now…

I keep saying it because there is more story to tell. In fact, reading through A Circle of Shadows last week brought to light a number of new areas to explore for the second half of the series.

Questions remain but as to what those entail you’ll have to read the novel when it arrives this September!

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
