The Con is On

August 21, 2023 By Lou

September is right around the corner and there are a couple excellent conventions coming up! If you’re on the hunt for Greystone and DSA paperbacks, look no further because here is where to find me at these September conventions!

September Conventions

Erie Comicon

This is my first time visiting lovely Erie, which is an absolute crime considering how close I live to the area. I’ve heard some fantastic things about this show, and from what I’ve been seeing on their site with the list of artists and authors, I really think this is going to be a fun weekend.

Erie Comicon takes place September 8th through the 10th at 1 Sassafras Pier in Erie, PA.

Follow the Con on Facebook.

Click here to order your tickets now!

Stop on by for comics, gaming, cosplay, and lots more.

Flower City Comic Con

It’s been too long since my last Flower City Con. The people who run Flower City in Rochester LOVE putting this show together. They are incredibly generous with their time and always work to make the show bigger and better than the year before.

I can’t wait to see them, and you, at this year’s Flower City Comic Con.

The show will be on September 16th and 17th at Total Sports Experience, 880 Elmgrove Rd, Rochester, NY.

For more information about the show and ticket information, head over to their website now.

See you there!

Get ready for Nickel City Con!

June 26, 2023 By Lou

Nickel City Con arrives this Friday! This is the largest show in the Western New York area, and I cannot wait to see you there.

Nickel City Con

Who is on your list to see? (My kids are all about Dan Fogler from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. They think this is the coolest thing ever.)

The guest-list is great. The artists going to this show are top-notch. Freakin’ Jim Starlin is going to be at the con. The man who created Thanos! (Can you tell I’m excited?) But, yeah, Ken Lashley and Bart Sears are on the list to attend as well. Crazy talented guys and well worth a visit for some signed books and a chat.

Everything you want in a show is here for you.

Comics. Pop culture. Gaming. HorrorFest. So much to do and only three days to fit it in.

I’ll be there too…

Oh, yeah. Be sure to stop by my table for your signed copies of Greystone and DSA. I want to see you there! Talk to me. Let me talk your ear off, because I will. It’s going to be three days of fun.

Where are we talking?

The Buffalo Niagara Convention Center is hosting the event. (153 Franklin Street, Buffalo, NY) June 30th through July 2nd. Head over to https://nickelcitycon.com and check out all the activities on the docket.

See you there!

Sci-Fi Valley Con is this weekend!

June 5, 2023 By Lou

Sci-Fi Valley Con is this Friday!!! June 9th through the 11th in beautiful Altoona, PA. I will be there with a smile on my face and books ready to sign. Check out below for more info or head directly to their site for ticket info and more!

Sci-Fi Valley Con Info

This con is packed with fun times. There are events, contests, movie screenings, panels, and more to keep you going all weekend long.

Trivia Tournaments

Gather your smartest team to try to win cool gift cards and a trophy. Prove your knowledge of sci-fi, horror, fantasy, cartoons, and pop culture.

Charity Quick Sketch

For one hour each day, the convention artists will meet in the main lobby and sketch artwork as fast as they can for charity. Attendees can try to buy the sketches as the artists finish them.

Con Quest

This is a fun treasure hunt presented by Sci-Fi Valley Con’s Gearbox Union. Complete the challenges throughout the convention floor. It benefits children’s hospitals all over the planet.

Charity Auction

All proceeds go to benefit Extra Life. Dozens of pieces of artwork, books, and more will be up for grabs at this special event on Saturday, June 10th.

That isn’t even the half of it. There’s costume contests, medieval battles, guest panels, an incredible after party, and more going on this weekend.

Stop by and say hello!

I haven’t been able to get back to Sci-Fi Valley Con since 2018. It was a great time and I think this year’s guest list and exhibitors is even better. I can’t wait to see you there.

Welcome to 2021!

January 12, 2021 By Lou

Happy 2021!! I know this year has had its ups and downs already, but come on, it has to be better than 2020, right? Right? (Dear Lord, I hope so…)

Picking up the pieces

I wrote about some of the troubles I ran into last year. To me, writing has become more and more engrossing with each book. 2020 was the ultimate pushback on that mentality. The world demanded more time from me with each building crisis until writing became less about the journey and more about an end product.

That’s not what I wanted when I started this game.

2021 is about a firm restart. It’s about remembering the fun that comes with storytelling and the joy of being surprised by the twists and turns along the way.

At the start of 2020 I had a plan in mind for this year. It was audacious with DSA Season Two being released along the back half of the year. That isn’t going to happen after the setbacks of the last year.

Instead, this year is all about building my content library. DSA Season Two is at the top of my to-do list, with the draft for Book Two coming up next month. From there, I am going to finish Army in the Obelisk and set the monthly release schedule of this Greystone serial that has become very near and dear to me for the challenges it has provided along the way.

Those are my big projects for the year. The DSA release schedule has not been set, and will definitely NOT be monthly like with season one.

2021, in my eyes, is the year of the draft. By the end of the year, my goal is to have no less than six books written (I’m pushing for 8 or 9).

DSA Season One Sale

To celebrate the new year, I’ve put DSA Season One on sale. Each book is only $0.99.

Ben Riley, Morgan Dunleavy, and the rest of the cast have been creeping into my mind lately. They need their next adventures to be told and Season Two is going to blow your mind. Revelations about The Witness, the truth about the trees from The Clearing revealed, and the secret history of Susan Metcalf comes to light. That’s just the tip of the iceberg with the DSA.

The best is yet to come.

It’s corny to say that, right? I truly do believe it though. I’m disappointed there won’t be more releases this year. I’m angry at the world on most days about what we’ve had to endure over the last 9 months. But I’m dedicated to make the future brighter and better by continuing the stories you’ve come to enjoy.

I’m excited about the journeys ahead and hope you will be too.

Happy 2021. Let’s do our part to make it a great one.

My new ebook storefront is open for business

November 3, 2020 By Lou

I’ve been looking forward to launching this for some time. My PayHip ebook store is now open for business. PayHip is an incredible platform that allows me to offer you my ebooks directly without the interference of third party retailers.

Welcome to my ebook store!

For those that don’t know, sites like Amazon and Kobo take a cut of each ebook sale. They offer their platform to get the word out about new authors. That’s the benefit of using them so they definitely earn their share of the profits.

PayHip offers a direct means for reaching a customer. Much like the Square store for my physical books, PayHip allows me to grow my business by offering the best deals for readers, while also helping to support my efforts to create new books for your reading pleasure.

Ebook Store Opening Sale

This month only, I am offering a 30% off coupon code for readers to use on any and all books listed in the store. You can head over to the storefront and shop now. When you go to Checkout, use the code FJCZ3CYR5P for your discount.

You can use this code even on The Final Gauntlet, which just launched a few weeks ago.

This deal ends November 30th.

Why shop here instead of Amazon?

First and foremost is the fact that all proceeds go directly to me and my writing business. Every penny is funneled into creating new books for you.

Beyond that, I am hoping to offer you the best in deals with this service. From discounts on individual books to coupon codes for special occasions.

The PayHip store will also be the first place you can find new releases, including an upcoming boxset of The DSA Season One. So keep an eye out for that one soon!

Why PayHip and why now?

I love finding new opportunities and new platforms to offer readers my books. Getting the word out is extremely difficult, especially locked in my home, so launching these new storefronts has been extremely helpful in growing my writing brand.

Giving readers the best deals and the best service possible is always my goal in everything I do. From the creation of a series to the selling of each book, the reading experience is at the forefront of my mind.

Let me know what you think of the new storefront. It was a labor of love that I hope to tweak and refine for years to come.

October 2020 Promotions

October 20, 2020 By Lou

It’s a launch month, so I’m sharing Greystone with quite a few people and they are doing the same. There are a ton of wonderful October promotions going on as well, from free books to heavily discounted boxsets, so be sure to check them all out.

October Promotions

Greystone-in-Training Sale

With the conclusion of the trilogy, I’ve put the first two books on sale this month.

Grab Hammer and Anvil for FREE.

Read The Gifts of Kali for only $0.99.

The Final Gauntlet is out now. Check out the climactic conclusion today.

What are you reading this month?

I’m working through Resurrection Day by Brendan DuBois. It’s an incredible examination of a world where the Cuban Missile Crisis went horribly wrong for America.

What have you been reading? What books did you manage to snag in the promos above? I’d love to hear from you.

Happy reading.
