Convention Season

May 12, 2025 By Lou

It’s that time of year again. The family finally kicks me to the curb and tells me to go peddle my wares out in the so-called “real” world. Here’s where you can find me this summer during the dreaded CONVENTION SEASON.

Convention Season 2025

May 17 – Knights Event Center

I’m dipping my toes back in the world at the Knights Event Center THIS SATURDAY. Come visit me and watch me struggle to remember how to describe my books or figure out standard social graces. It’s going to be a blast.

May 24-25 – Totally Buffalo Festival

The Totally Buffalo Festival is back this Memorial Day weekend at Riverworks! 1/2 price Ferris Wheel rides. What’s not to love?

June 7-8 – Fairport Canal Days

Pray for beautiful weather, folks. This outdoor festival is HUGE. There are hundreds of vendors to visit and loads of activities for the whole family.

June 14 – Buffalo Comicon

My Queen City brethren are back for another con. Always a good time. Tickets should be on sale soon.

June 27-29 – Nickel City Con

This biggest comic convention in Buffalo is back. So many incredible guests will be there this year. Tickets are on sale now.

July 12-13 – Columbus Book Festival

I am beyond excited to take part in the Columbus Book Festival this year. I’ve never been personally, but everything I’ve read makes it sound like a stand-out event. My whole family is attending. Can’t wait to talk books with so many people.

There are more events on the docket for the fall. Please find me. Please say hello. Also, if you can, please tell me nice things–they can be about the books or the weather or even yourself. Can’t wait to see you at the cons!

Get ready for some great conventions

September 4, 2024 By Lou

This is a crazy month for me. I’m roaming the area at some fantastic events throughout September and I hope you’ll join me. Here’s a list of the conventions coming up:

Flower City Con – September 13-15

I love Flower City Con. The organizers at the Mighty Monkey Corporation put on an amazing experience for fans. There is always something going on at the convention, be it signings or panels or the cosplay contest.

This is my fourth time appearing at the show. It’s a lot of fun. This year they have John Barrowman in attendance. Captain Jack will be in the building. It’s going to be so cool.

Head over to their website to find out more about this year’s show and ticket information.

Erie Comicon – September 20-22

This is my second year attending this con. It’s really well put together. I’ve never seen a team handle so much so efficiently. And they are all stellar people.

The view alone is worth the visit for this con. But this year, they have Tom and Mary Bierbaum as guests. If you don’t know, I am a HUGE Legion of Super-Heroes fan. They wrote one of the most inventive (and divisive) eras of the Legion. I freaking loved it and can’t wait to share that with them at the show.

Head over to the Erie website for ticket information and news about the growing guest list!

Buffalo Indie Lit Expo – September 28

The wonderful team over at Band of Bards comics is putting together what will hopefully be their first indie lit festival. I’m excited any time there is something aimed at the literature side of fandom, so as a fan I was already going to be attending. Thankfully, they were nice enough to ask me to join in the fun.

The Buffalo Idie Lit Expo (BILE) is an event filled with local and regional authors, artists, and creators. Presented by Buffalo-based Independent Publisher Band of Bards, it’s an event where creators can sell and promote their original works and make a new connection with the community.
The event is FREE, open to the public, and ALL AGES!
Head over to Facebook to check out the event page.

See you at the conventions this month!

Upcoming Conventions

May 6, 2024 By Lou

I hope 2024 has been treating you well so far. With winter finally behind us, it is time to start looking ahead to some upcoming conventions! I’m going to be escaping the writing desk for a bit here and there, and hope you’ll join me at some incredible events.

Upcoming Conventions

May 25 – 26: Totally Buffalo Festival

The ORIGINAL shop-local large-scale event is back and bigger than ever! Totally Buffalo Festival 2024 will once again take place at the best venue in WNY, Buffalo Riverworks. May 25th and 26th from 10am to 5pm.
Celebrate Memorial Weekend on the water – with 120 local artisans, great food, live music, awesome drinks and loads of fun activities for the entire family!

The event is free to attend.

June 1 – 2: Fairport Canal Days

Celebrating its 47th year! Fairport Canal Days is located on the Erie Canal and features a marketplace with hundreds of vendors, live bands, reaction zones, and more!

June 28 – 30: Nickel City Con

The guests this year are astounding. From an American Pie reunion to John Glover and Dean Cain, Nickel City brought their A game when recruiting for the show. It’s one of my favorite events of the year.

More to come later this year!

There were plenty of events I wanted to fit in this year. So many great shows to attend and cities to visit. Unfortunately, I felt the writing needed to take top priority this year, especially with the Patreon going live this month.

So, if you were hoping to see me at Sci-Fi Valley Con this year, I won’t be able to make it. Next year for sure. I love the show and really did want to attend. (Maybe tell Casey to drop the table price a little for us poor authors.)

There are a few more shows to announce for later this year, but I’ll save them for a future post.

Hope to see you there!

Year End Wrap-Up!

December 14, 2023 By Lou

This has been a crazy year. After almost three years of keeping my head down and simply plugging away on the writing side of things, I decided it was time to get back to publishing. I knew it would be challenging with a two-year-old at home, but pushing back my release schedule felt more like fear than anything else.

A round of thanks.

That’s right. None of this matters without you here to read the books, so a very deep and heartfelt thank you for your continued support. There have been a number of emails and messages sent my way about what the books have meant to you, and it always makes my day to hear that. Sometimes I am literally banging my head against the wall, trying to coax the words out of me, when I will receive a missive from a reader that changes my whole mindset.

It’s a tough gig, living in these worlds alone for so long, banging out pages in solitude. Any time someone sends me a note of encouragement or their own thanks for something I’ve written, it does make the sacrifices worth it.

So again, thank you. For reading. For writing. For being with me on this insane journey. Thank you.

My convention friends.

Not everything is done in solitude, and I can’t tell you what it has meant to be back at conventions this year. I’m not the most open person in the world, so there are a lot of nerves involved in preparing to sell myself directly to potential readers.

I appreciate everyone who came up to my table and chatted with me about the books. It was a pleasure to meet with you, to hear what you’ve been enjoying at the different cons, and to hopefully start a connection that will last for many years to come.

Next year, I’m hoping to hit up a few new venues, while maintaining a presence at my favorite cons. Be sure to say hello!

DSA Season Two and beyond.

I came into 2023 with a plan to get DSA back on track. I hated the gap between seasons, though I realize it was completely out of my control with the world imploding.

Getting The Wellspring and Foundations released was a huge undertaking but so satisfying in the end. The launches have been fantastic (nerves and all) and the feedback truly gratifying.

The rest of the season is heading your way in 2024.

What comes after that has been bouncing around a bit over the course of this year. Despite the help I’ve received on the homefront, my writing time has been more limited than I’d like. I’m hoping to change how I put books together, tweak my process in certain ways, to ramp up production on a few fronts. There are some cool new projects on the horizon, including a new format that I’m really excited to explore.

Will there be more Greystone after DSA Season Two? Absolutely. Whether or not I keep plugging away to the end of the story is a question that still needs to be answered, though.

To many happy returns.

Here’s to a happy holiday season for you and your loved ones.

2023 was a great way to get back into the swing of things. I’m hopeful for an even better 2024.

Take care and talk soon.

The Con is On

August 21, 2023 By Lou

September is right around the corner and there are a couple excellent conventions coming up! If you’re on the hunt for Greystone and DSA paperbacks, look no further because here is where to find me at these September conventions!

September Conventions

Erie Comicon

This is my first time visiting lovely Erie, which is an absolute crime considering how close I live to the area. I’ve heard some fantastic things about this show, and from what I’ve been seeing on their site with the list of artists and authors, I really think this is going to be a fun weekend.

Erie Comicon takes place September 8th through the 10th at 1 Sassafras Pier in Erie, PA.

Follow the Con on Facebook.

Click here to order your tickets now!

Stop on by for comics, gaming, cosplay, and lots more.

Flower City Comic Con

It’s been too long since my last Flower City Con. The people who run Flower City in Rochester LOVE putting this show together. They are incredibly generous with their time and always work to make the show bigger and better than the year before.

I can’t wait to see them, and you, at this year’s Flower City Comic Con.

The show will be on September 16th and 17th at Total Sports Experience, 880 Elmgrove Rd, Rochester, NY.

For more information about the show and ticket information, head over to their website now.

See you there!

Flower City Comic Con is this weekend!

April 9, 2019 By Lou

If you’re in the Rochester area you have to stop by the Blue Cross Arena this weekend for the Flower City Comic Con!

April 13th and 14th!

Two days of incredible deals, celebrity guests, panels and cosplay, this show has it all. I’m so excited to be a part of the guest list. It looks to be a fantastic lineup of talent.

Greystone Deal

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it here on the blog but for shows like this I offer a huge discount on my paperbacks. Typically, a Greystone novel costs $13.99 online. Plus tax. Plus shipping in some cases. I hate having to charge that. Hate it.

That’s why I love these conventions.

This weekend, you can get any Greystone novel for $10. No tax. No shipping. And a sweet autograph from yours truly.

That’s not even the end of it. The deals get sweeter the more books you buy and all come with a genuine scribble from the author and his eternal gratitude.

2 Books = $18
3 Books = $25
4 Books = $30
And all 5 Greystone novels are only $35!

Why I do it…

It’s not for the money. Much as I would love to live off this amazing gig of mine, the discounts are there to promote Greystone to a local audience. To spread the word about my writing and hopefully earn a few devoted fans along the way.

I might not bring home enough to pay off that last college loan but if I am able to connect with a few special readers at each occasion, if I can inspire someone to dig into the world of Soriya and Loren just a little, I know I’ve done my job.

Beyond that, the joy is in being able to talk to people. To hear what they’ve been reading and what drew them to the table. Anytime I am able to break away from the cave and step into the light is a good one. A good exercise for promoting the series and for showing readers how enthused I am to keep living with these characters and the stories coming up for them.

See you in Rochester!

I do hope you’ll make the trip. I’ve spoken with a number of the guests already and they are so pumped to meet you, to share their stories with you. Pick their brain, ask them about their pets or their kids. These are regular folk doing everything they can to give you the best convention experience they can.

Enjoy it and I’ll see you there!
