2025 Releases

January 20, 2025 By Lou

I’m so excited to announce my 2025 releases. I wasn’t sure what I could bring to the table after a crazy year like 2024, but I think the books coming this year are some of the strongest I’ve ever written. Check out the list below!

2025 Releases

January 29th – The Last King

A dying king, a guardian lion, and a shadowy demon spell disaster for Portents.

The skandola—an ancient talisman with the power to ward off evil—is in danger. When its protection fails, one of the great demons from the underworld escapes to walk the Earth once more.

Ur has returned and with him comes eternal darkness.

Greg Loren, reassigned from the Central Precinct to a cold case warehouse, finds himself pulled into the conflict when a Shishi lion—a guardian to the last king of men—dies in front of him. Unsure how to proceed, Loren turns to the only person he trusts when the city turns bizarre: Soriya Greystone.

Together, with the help of the king’s final guardian, Idris, Loren and Soriya must keep the king safe long enough to banish Ur’s evil from the city of Portents forever.

April 9th – Greystone-in-Training Box Set

Finally, the trilogy will be collected. The digital box set is something I’ve had in the works for years but could never find the right time to release it.

I love this series. It was such a blast to explore Soriya’s past, while building up elements that will have a HUGE impact on the end of the main series. Whenever someone asks about books I’m most proud of I point them to this trilogy.

The pre-order should be live for this one pretty soon.

June 4th – Greystone Book Six – Alpha and Omega

The Kindly Killer stalks Portents.

Seven victims have been claimed by the murderous madman. No connections exist between the deceased. No clues remain at the scenes.

Greg Loren knows the killer is behind the death of his wife and he’s willing to do anything to prove it. Crossing lines comes at a cost, though, both personally and professionally. With his career at risk, Loren must discover what is more important: the answers to the past or carving out a future.

Soriya Greystone watches him from a distance, afraid to pull him into her world. But when the twin masked menaces of Comedy and Tragedy strike the city with a chaotic crime wave, the pair are forced together.

How are these two disparate threats connected? And what is the secret behind the Kindly Killer’s mania?

Witness the beginning as Loren and Soriya meet for the first time. But will their partnership survive the trial by fire?

The second half of the Greystone Saga kicks off with a murder and a promise—one that portends dark days ahead…

October 15th – Greystone Book Seven – Errant Knight

A knight’s destiny spells the end for Portents.

In the final days of Camelot, Merlin foresaw a great darkness rising. He dispatched five knights to combat this evil—and safeguard the world from its insidious threat. The knights built a fail-safe device, should all hope fade, and awaited the day it became necessary.

The clock starts ticking when a prominent philanthropist is found murdered. Detective Samantha Myers, with the aid of a centuries-old siren Thel, is pulled into the case. Stymied by the secrets uncovered, Myers turns to the only man capable of solving the mystery: Greg Loren.

In the absence of Soriya Greystone, Loren has taken up the role of protector in Portents. He feels inadequate to handle the burden though, especially when he learns his new partner, Gabe, is spiraling at school and with his foster family.

The case proves the perfect distraction as Loren confronts the deadly guardians of the knights. As each key falls into the hands of the murderous Squire, Merlin’s prophecy is on the verge of becoming a reality.

Can Loren protect the last knight and the key he bears or will Portents fall in the wake of his failure?

The restoration of Portents may be over before it has even begun in this epic installment to the Greystone Saga.

December – Coventry Christmas Adventures # 2 and 3

More details to come on these later.

December – TBD

I mentioned a book in last week’s blog that I’m hoping to get to rework. I really would like to see it released this year, but that might be pushing things. We’ll see what I can do.

Whew. Okay. That was more than I was expecting. I better start writing.

Head over to the Patreon and start reading now!

That schedule doesn’t include the Friday Fun Facts that will continue every week. These are nice snippets of details behind the writing process of Army in the Obelisk. Sometimes it is a glimpse of my thought process behind a specific aspect of the segment. Sometimes it is about a character or an arc. I always enjoy learning more about the work, so I hope it is enjoyable for you.

August will also see the arrival of the first Archived Book – Tales from Portents. These six short stories turned out to be absolutely crucial to the story behind the series to date. It’s a personal favorite and one I’m proud to share on the Patreon.

The next archived book will drop in October or November.

A look at what’s to come for the Patreon:

September brings some inside glimpses of Secret Histories. The reveals there connect to events from the very first DSA book, but did I know how they would evolve right from the start?

Army in the Obelisk will continue through November. The cataclysmic conclusion might seem far off, but the pieces are building to a spectacular finish.

Terminal Point, the season finale of DSA, launches on September 30th and runs through October and November.

December will bring not one, but two Coventry short stories, unless everything goes to hell with my writing schedule this summer. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen.

2024 Release Schedule

January 22, 2024 By Lou

2023 saw the start of DSA Season Two. This year marks the end of the season with four big releases! Check out the release schedule below.

2024 Release Schedule

March 13th – The Missing

There is a reason behind everything, if you choose to see it.

When the Trust systematically destroyed Ben Riley’s life, there was collateral damage to those around him. Emily Wright has been missing for the last eight months, her entire existence erased. Now, after endless worry, a mysterious phone call from Emily has brought Ben to Wichita with Morgan Dunleavy in tow.

Their lead offers no answers until the pair meets Lizzy Doyle—a photojournalist with an obsession over the missing of the world. With this new and eccentric player comes a fresh case. A coed has been abducted, and the search is on.

Are the two cases connected? What secret does Lizzy bring with her about the missing? And when Ben chooses to follow this mysterious new companion over Morgan, will it spell the end of their partnership?

Meanwhile, Susan Metcalf makes a startling discovery that brings her face-to-face with the head of the Trust, at last. Will she survive the encounter? Or has she doomed the DSA with her recklessness?

Dangerous decisions send the team spiraling in the latest thrilling installment of the DSA.

You can pre-order your digital copy of The Missing today!

June 12th – Cracked Chrysalis

I can’t give away the details for any further release. But I will show off the incredible cover MiblArt put together for this installment!

Pre-orders will be up for this one starting next month!

September 18th – Secret Histories

December 11th – Terminal Point

If you’ve read Foundations (you should, it’s fantastic!) then you’ve seen the words terminal point come up. This is the big finale to that story and the entire Wellspring Saga.

Greystone Serial

Army in the Obelisk is FINALLY heading your way. Twelve 8-chapter parts tell the tale, and it is one of the largest Greystone stories ever told. I’m so excited to share it with you. It’s been a long time coming.

Details on the release schedule (and the medium to enjoy it) will be heading your way in the coming weeks. Enjoy the cover below!

2024 is going to be huge for DSA and will kick-off the final cycle of Greystone!

Happy Reading.

Writing Update – April 30, 2019

April 30, 2019 By Lou

Welcome to the writing update for April 2019! It’s been a crazy month in the basement as I try and close out some stuff and start others.

On with the show!

Writing Update

DSA Season One

I am currently in the middle of self-editing the final book of season one. But Lou, you said your deadline was today? What happened?

Jury duty. Crazy, right? I am fulfilling my obligation as a US citizen at the moment, so writing time during the Easter holiday hit a big snag.

I will be finished with Broken Loyalties next weekend and reading through all six episodes the following week! Very excited to pass this along to some alpha readers for feedback.

Hammer and Anvil

Another reason for the slight delay is the opening book of the Greystone-In-Training trilogy. My initial plan was to finish DSA before diving into the script for Hammer and Anvil.

Then my brain took over.

Stupid brain.

The script is DONE for this book. 106 pages of Soriya awesomeness that will serve as the spine for the draft. It’s actually a pretty tight script in my opinion. Sometimes when I work a little faster on a project than I should – i.e. all the time – I tend to overlook the nuances of each character’s arc.

I nailed them here perfectly. Every interaction is layered for character and plot. Each scene propels the narrative forward to the next.

Can’t wait to dive into the draft next month. Hoping to close it out by the end of May with edits in June. However, as you may recall, plans tend to shift slightly as life takes over.

Release Schedule

As it stands now, there are a few things coming your way from me later this year.

August – Greystone: The Complete First Cycle Digital Box Set

All five novels of the Greystone series in one fantastic package. The cover is awesome and you already know the contents are. There will be teases for what comes next as well as some personal reflections from me (I hope).

October – DSA: Season One, Book One – The Clearing

It all starts here! The people of Bellbrook, Ohio have vanished and only the DSA field team can solve the mystery behind their disappearance. Or will they become victims themselves?

November – DSA: Season One, Book Two – Promethean

The field team investigates a mysterious murder and runs afoul of a pyrokinetic trapped in a deeper conspiracy than any of them thought possible.

December – DSA: Season One, Book Three – The Bridge

The team is split between personal tragedies and professional inquisitions. Lines are drawn and loyalties are tested.

Where does Hammer and Anvil fit? Hopefully, in September but I’m leaving it open at the moment so I can nail down the draft. By the end of May I should have a clear picture of where it will fall on the schedule.

Stay tuned.
