A Call for Reviews – 2019 Edition

March 5, 2019 By Lou

There are certain things are difficult for me, tasks with which I struggle. Acquiring reviews for Greystone appears to be one of them!

I love my books. Yes, there was an enormous pain in producing them as all writers would attest, but they are my creative darlings and I am the better because of them. If I could, I would talk Greystone all day. From the setting to the characters, every nuance, every stray thought that’s been put into why certain things occur in the books and where we are heading with the second half.

I could talk for hours and if you know me that is a feat and a half.

But this isn’t about me. I can’t leave a review, much as I would love to, on my books. I need your help to make it happen.

Now last year I set some goals with reviews. I failed miserably.

My hope is this year will go better. Truly, I hope you are enjoying the story and want to share that with others. If you have read any of the novels, any of the box sets, please consider leaving a review today.

I am including a master link for each book. From there you will be able to click on any retailer of your choice to leave a review. I hope you will. They are crucial to building up the Greystone’s rep, as it were, and I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thank you.

A Call for Reviews

April 19, 2018 By Lou

I’ve set a few goals for myself this year. There are the usual suspects in the mix. Finish a new series of books, edit a couple sitting in the drawer next to my desk. Maybe spend some time with the family. (That would be nice…)

First and foremost on the list is asking for reviews.

Calling all reviewers

I know how difficult it can be to leave a review. You never know what to say, how long it should be, if you’re giving too much away or not saying enough. The fact remains each review is crucial to the success of a book.

I set a goal for Signs of Portents this year at 50 reviews. I would love to see it hit the mark. Right now it is at 27. Totally workable but I need your help to make it happen.

Tales from Portents and Pathways in the Dark are stuck at 9 reviews. It would be incredible if they both reached 20 by the end of the year.

The Medusa Coin had the strongest review count out of the gate thanks to my fantastic advance reader team but since then has had a total of bupkus. It is currently at 16 reviews. Let’s see what we can do to make that 25 by the end of the year.

If you’ve read both Signs of Portents and Tales from Portents consider leaving a review for The Greystone Saga Volume One which contains both books. I would love to be able to promote the box set more but with only 3 reviews it makes it very difficult to manage. If we could get it to 10 reviews it would be a big help.

I can’t do this without you.

One of the main reasons I love to write is that everything is internal. Everything stems from me and when the chips fall the final product is all mine based on my choices and what I wanted to see in the pages.

But the success of such a book is not up to me. It is up to you. Leaving a review is your voice in the process and I take each to heart. Each one is truly appreciated and I can’t say enough about the folks that have been able to leave one for each and every installment of the Greystone series.

Thank you for your help with hitting these goals.

Also, if you would like a free copy of the next Greystone book, A Circle of Shadows, to review ahead of the release in September please shoot me an email at lou@loupaduano.com.

Pathways in the Dark Launch Offer Ends This Week

February 26, 2018 By Lou

This last week has been a whirlwind. Launching a book always feels that way, trying to get as many eyeballs on the series as possible in a short burst that hopefully attracts even more people down the line. I couldn’t do it alone. Thank you to everyone helping me out during this launch. Spreading the word is one of the toughest parts of this gig and the newsletter swaps from other authors, the online promo sites, the friends and family involved in making this a success is truly incredible.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Launch offer ends this week!

Pathways in the Dark is still only $0.99 but that ends this weekend! Be sure to grab your copy before it jumps to full price!

Already read the book?

Have you already enjoyed the hell out of the latest installment in the Greystone series? Be sure to leave a review! Reviews can be as simple as a “Great book” or as complex as a rundown of the contents story by story. It is completely up to you but each one helps provide social proof to potential readers that the series is one worth checking out!

Each review is greatly appreciated!

Let me know what you think!

Feel free to drop me a line at lou@loupaduano.com and let me know how I’m doing! I’d love to hear from you!

Join the Advance Team for Pathways in the Dark

January 11, 2018 By Lou

It’s getting to be that time again. Book Four of the Greystone series arrives in six weeks! It’s insane how these dates sneak up on me. To prepare, I’m opening the doors to my Advance Team of reviewers once again!

Why should you join?

How about a FREE copy of Pathways in the Dark? Not enough? How about chances to win prizes and gift cards not offered to anyone else?

I love my advance team. They do an amazing job of spreading the word about each release and take the time to write some fantastic reviews online about the books. I understand the commitment involved, the time necessary to read a book and figure out a way to promote it. That’s why I try to thank them as much as possible for their services.

This endeavor, these books, don’t work without reviews. It takes a village and I am hoping you’ll join today to stand with us for this next book and every other to follow.

What do I have to do?

To join, email me directly at lou@loupaduano.com

You’ll be put on the list and when Pathways is sent out you’ll be the first to receive it. Digital copies only, though, as my ability to ship paperbacks is quite limited at this point.

And then? ENJOY the book! Read it, love it, live it. At the bus stop, at the dinner table, everywhere you can think to squeeze in some reading time, DO IT!

Tell your kids about the book. Tell your doctor, the stranger sitting next to you, that crazy nerd with the Jean-Luc Picard poster in his cubicle at work. Spread the word about the series!

And when it comes to release time? Review the hell out of it. Post it on your blog, your friend’s blog, your grandmother’s blog… Oh, and on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, and Kobo. (Please and thank you…)

I’m not strict about it. I don’t push. I just know that without fine reviewers like you, this series won’t stick and I want people to love Soriya and Loren as much I do for a long, long time!

If you’re interested in joining the advance team, let me know today at lou@loupaduano.com.

I can’t wait to hear from you.

Thanks for reading!

Author Commentaries

March 27, 2017 By Lou

I don’t know about you but after I read something and thoroughly enjoy it I like to know as much about the project as possible. What choices were made in the background? How was the initial concept conceived? Thoughts about specific moments and the level of difficulty in pulling it together. I find author commentaries fascinating in this regard.

Tales from Portents Author Commentaries

The second installment of the Greystone series has been out for a little over a month now. You’ve read it and loved every freaking second of it, I am sure.

If not – for shame – some handy dandy links will take you to your favorite retailer to procure a copy.

Why should you snag it now and devour it eagerly? Besides the fact that it is currently only 99-cents digitally right this very minute????

Author commentaries are on the way next week!

I did this with Signs of Portents and really enjoyed digging into the process and where things changed from draft to final manuscript. Being the forward thinker I am – HA – I took some time during the editing process and the many readings therein to mark down what I thought were interesting nuggets about each and every entry in the Tales from Portents collection.

author commentaries

Every story had its trials, its changes and I wanted to share them with you. Like I said, I find author commentaries fascinating because they inform the writing process. Understanding how to think around obstacles in order to create a more satisfying reading experience.

Spoiler Warning

I will be talking about what happens in each story and I don’t want the experience ruined for you. You have been warned!

If there is a specific topic (plot point, scene, character, etc.) you would like mentioned please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to share. Unless it spoils future novels. If you want me to tell you how everyone dies in a fiery crash, I’m not going to do it. Oh, wait… Forget I wrote that.

Reviews

If you’ve read Tales from Portents and haven’t been able to write a review yet, they would be greatly appreciated. Reviews really are the only social proof authors have that they’ve written something halfway decent that people will enjoy. Thank you for taking the time to help spread the word about Tales and all the Greystone novels.

And thanks for reading!

Tales from Portents Advance Copies Available!

January 30, 2017 By Lou

I’ve gone back and forth on this subject for a couple weeks now. Advance Reader Copies or ARCs have always been an integral part in getting the word out about a new release. Offering them early and allowing your tribe of readers a chance to enjoy the novel before the actual release date helps spread the word about its upcoming release and, the biggest benefit, is the influx of reviews right on release day.

At least, that was how it used to be.

Reviewers would leave a note explaining they received the book in exchange for their honest review and it was acceptable.

Advance reader copy rules have changed.

advance reader copyAll thanks to Amazon. Asking for reviews is no longer acceptable practice in their eyes. That note above is enough to get a completely legitimate review bounced from the sales page on Amazon.

And a massive influx of positive reviews for a book (or any product) is another red flag to the biggest book retailer on the planet.

Can I still give away copies of Tales from Portents? Yes, of course. It’s my book. That makes me sorta in charge of it.

Can I ask for an honest review from a reader in exchange for a free book? No. But I can hope that if you request an advance copy that it is with the intention of reviewing it so that others can find Tales and enjoy it as well.

Sign up for an advance reader copy today:

Even with all the headaches from Amazon I want to make this happen. Here’s how you can request your advance copy of Tales from Portents:

Contact me DIRECTLY. Either through my contact form or through a private message on social media.

In the message tell me your preferred format. (MOBI for Kindle, EPUB for Nook and iBooks, or PDF.) If print is your only option a paperback edition can be sent your way but it will be on a first come, first served basis. I only have a few copies I can mail out at this time.

After receiving your advance reader copy?

Read it. I ask that if you request one that you are able to read it in the month of February.

If you enjoyed it and would like to leave a review (YOUR CHOICE) on Amazon, Goodreads or the other major retailer sites let me know FIRST. Again, this is more to avoid incurring the wrath of Amazon’s willy-nilly policy changes than me being a complete control freak. Honest.

Tales from Portents has been a treat to put together and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. For those unable to take advantage of an advance copy don’t forget to mark your calendars for the official release. February 17th is coming up FAST.

Your help and your feedback is appreciated beyond belief.

Thanks for reading.
